Frequently Asked Questions
What is reformer Pilates?
The reformer is a classic piece of Pilates equipment that features a sliding carriage, adjustable springs, ropes and pulleys. Similar to other Pilates methods, reformer Pilates provides an excellent total body workout. It emphasises proper alignment and effective muscle engagement, which can enhance your posture, improve balance and increase stability, particularly during movement.
How often should I do Pilates to see results?
It’s generally recommended to attend 2-3 classes per week, after a few weeks you may notice that the work starts to feel more manageable. Joseph Pilates famously said, “In 10 sessions, you will feel the difference, in 20 sessions, you will see the difference and in 3o sessions, you will have a whole new body”.
How do I sign up to classes?
Our booking platform is Momence, the link to the booking site can be found under the “Book A Class” tab on the home page. You can also view the class schedule from the homepage to find a time that best suits you.
What’s your cancellation policy?
Customers can cancel attendance to a class and get a credit, if they cancel before the cut-off period which is 1 hour prior to the class start time. If you have booked a class, then cancelled with a membership subscription, you will be credited in the next renewal period of your subscription. (this means the credit won’t show up straight away)
Why would a class be cancelled?
A class may be cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances such as insufficient enrolment, where there may not be enough participants to justify holding the session. We strive to offer the best experience for all clients, and in such cases, we will notify participants in advance and do our best to offer alternative scheduling or options. For early morning classes, instructors will aim to let you know by 7pm the night prior if the class will be cancelled, for day/night classes the instructor will aim to give at least 2 hours’ notice of cancellation.
Can I get a refund on my membership?
All purchases made for Essential Pilates memberships, whether weekly, monthly, or annual, are non-refundable and final at point of sale. This policy applies to all membership plans. However, you can contact your instructor to freeze your membership subscription for a short period of time (max 4 weeks, and 2 times per year) you can cancel your membership at any time via the Momence app.
Can I get a refund for my class pack or concession if I don’t use it?
The sale of a class pack/concession is final. Essential Pilates does not offer any refunds, transfers, suspensions or extensions on class packs for illness, injury, change of mind, user error, change of address, unsuitability or any other reason. In the event you are deemed medically unfit to continue with Pilates for the foreseeable future, a medical certificate is required in order for a refund to be processed.
